As home to pioneers of the computer gaming industry, Maryland has long been recognized as a major hub for games and interactive technology.  In addition to the successes in digital entertainment, our state is also home to companies excelling in digital modeling, simulation and serious games for application in the defense, medical, education and training sectors.

While companies specializing in e-commerce, web design, animation, audio and interactive technology are growing in Maryland, our primary, secondary and higher academic institutions are educating the next generation of digital innovators.

This new and ever changing technology is converging with Maryland’s traditional film and video production to form a Digital Entertainment and Emerging Media (DEEM) community in Maryland.

The D.E.E.M. Directory will facilitate this emerging community by providing an inventory of the sectors, companies and individuals within Maryland who are leading this convergence. By stimulating and strengthening the collaboration between these diverse, but interdependent stakeholders, Maryland can continue its leadership in Digital Entertainment and Emerging Media.
