Film and television production in Maryland should adhere to safety best practices and follow CDC and OSHA guidelines regarding COVID-19. 

Productions are urged to review and follow the proposed health and safety guidelines put forth in the following:

(1) Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee Task Force Whitepaper;

(2) The Producers Guild of America’s (PGA) Production Safety Task Force's COVID Safety Protocols for Producing Independent Productions;

(4) Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) Covid-19 Workplace Guidelines and Considerations.

Some jurisdictions and businesses may still have COVID restrictions and/or implemented vaccination requirements, please be sure to contact local jurisdictions before filming.  The Maryland Film Office will be able to connect you with a local contact for filming in other jurisdictions throughout the State.

There is no longer a statewide mask mandate in Maryland.  Face coverings are still required on public transportation and in health care settings.  Otherwise, they are optional, but highly recommended for unvaccinated individuals.  Local jurisdictions or businesses may still require masks and/or may have vaccination requirements.  Visit the CDC's COVID-19 County Check to find community levels and prevention steps by county and visit for more information on getting vaccinated.
